Blue Mountains Woodturners are hosting the first "Turning Escape" in September 2012.
This exciting event will be held at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains (about 80 kms west of Sydney) in amongst some of the more famous tourist sites in New South Wales and within the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park.
Running from 2:00pm Friday 21st September until 2:00pm Sunday 23rd September, the event offers a full weekend of turning whatever you want. Bring your own project and designs and go for it. All accommodation and meals are included along with some fun activities- if you want to participate. You can even help a local charity by donating the results of your turning for a charity auction.
For those accompanying the turners there are a range of activities available including a free tour of local interest sites.
The cost to attend Turning Escape 2012 is $170 per person.
The venue has a huge auditorium (big enough to accommodate 2000 people) so there is plenty of room for you and your lathe.
All you need to bring is your lathe (or share with a mate), tools, wood and a desire to have fun. Trend Timbers will be on site to help out with those items you forgot to pack.
The event is open to any woodturner who wants to enjoy a weekend of fun. You don't need to belong to a club, you just need to enjoy woodturning.
